For singles, couples, and small families we suggest the Cabins, Cottage 3 or Bayview apartment.

Next, owners Graham and Dianne Morris (2000-2004) and Anne and Theo Horbelt (2004-2018) managed the 5-acre property until Johannes and Renè Steyn fell in love with the views, peace and tranquility that Emu Bay Holiday Homes offers. They bought it in March 2018. Johannes and Renè have called Kangaroo Island home since 2008, working as a medical doctor and physio in the community. They love island life, including fishing in the pristine waters that surround Kangaroo Island.

Johannes and Renè have invested in renovating the entire property, developing accessible accommodation and improving the customer experience. They enjoy sharing the property with their guests and meeting them in person. Their fulfilment lies in happy guests whose expectations are exceeded.

  • The foundations are the reservations and marketing team.

Our cleaning teams take great pride in presenting spotlessly clean units.

Quiet and distanced from other guests

Units are spread out across the property, giving all guests privacy and the luxury of space.

Great sea views

Very clever use of the incline by the initial owners gives everyone a different sea view, making each property unique.

Accommodation that is everything you need without breaking the bank, giving you the opportunity to enjoy Kangaroo Island for longer and discover all its jewels.

Well equipped

Guests regularly comment that there is everything you need, including linen, towels, shampoo and shower gel, enough toilet paper, tea towels, dishwashing liquid, hand sanitiser, disinfectant spray, a coffee plunger and ground coffee as well as tea, sugar, tomato sauce, vinegar, salt/pepper and some basic spices; aluminium foil, cling wrap, baking paper and a good range of crockery, cutlery, sharp knives, pots and pans, and then some! You can leave the kitchen sink at home, just bring your food and drink.

Location and access to the rest of the island

Kingscote, the main township is an easy 15-minute drive away. Emu Bay is also well located for easy day trips to all the island’s main sightseeing attractions.

In-house catering

When you feel like eating out without going out, you can order meals through Lucy from KI Kitchen, to be placed in your unit for heating or BBQ at your convenience.

Easy, contactless check-in

Self check-in gives you great flexibility to enjoy some sights along the way on your day of arrival as you don’t have to check in by a specific time. While this low-touch tourism provides for greater safety, staff are always ready to assist as they are just a phone call away.

Free parking and Wi-Fi

Multiple free parking spots and free Wi-Fi – the comforts you’re looking for.

Access needs

The main house, Amani, is wheelchair-friendly with a full wheelchair-accessible bathroom. All other units excluding the two cabins have a rail in the shower.

The two cabins also have a set of stairs at their entrance.

Ideal location, great stay

Two friends and I spend 3 lovely nights in a cabin at Emu Bay Holiday Homes over the final weekend of October. The cabin was very clean and well maintained. Rene warmly welcomed us on arrival and provided us with some great local tips. The cabin was well equipped and had everything we needed for a home away from home experience. Spectacular views of Emu Bay and convenient location. We return home to Adelaide refreshed and with many lovely memories. A big thank you to Rene and Johannes. We now keenly await our next memorable KI experience.

What a gem

We had a fantastic five night stay with four other friends in Jireh House. Spotlessly clean and well appointed it was great location to enjoy the views set among beautiful gardens with numerous colourful flowering plants. Mornings and evenings on the front verandah were memorable in the tranquil setting with numerous birds using the bird bath or feeding on the flowers. Easy access to Island attractions. Great assistance and communication with all our arrangements from Christine and Rene. We’ll definitely recommend it to friends and return some time.

Family friendly home

A house with stunning views. Home away from home comfort. Great facilities provided. A fantastic location . House situated amongst beautiful gardens so tranquil and peaceful.
Beautiful grounds for taking a walk and enjoying the Australian flora and fauna. Spotting koalas in the trees near the house was a highlight.

Exceeded our high expectations!

A wonderful experience that exceeded all expectations. The cabin has everything one needs. The surroundings are very beautiful and kangaroos, koalas and the birds come to visit often. Just when we thought it was as good as it can be, we realized there was more! Incredible starry skies and a lot of shooting stars. Wishing we could have stayed for more than 9 days.

Vacation ❘ Couple

We stayed in the Bayview Guest wing, perfect for the two of us, for our seven night stay. Although it is attached to Amani House, (so it can be hired as part of Amani too), it is very well sound proofed and we chatted to our neighbours at times but felt undisturbed by their presence. Fantastic views of the superb Emu Bay, surrounded by wildlife and we were made very welcome by Rene and Johannes. The lovely Rene visited us to make sure we had whatever we needed and she is very knowledgeable about KI and can answer any questions you might have. Everything we needed was supplied, including a welcome gift of a bottle of False Cape red wine, local honey and KI oats and the apartment was beautifully clean. An easy walk to the beautiful beach, friendly locals and a fifteen minute drive to Kingscote for a meal at the pub, or the local Italian.

(Booking is a good idea!)

Highly recommend Emu Bay Holiday Homes.
